Abstract :

Purpose: To demonstrate hyperopic Lasik on non dominant eye and monofocal refractive surgery on dominant eye on my own eyes and to explore the post operative result and satisfaction on a busy refractive surgeon with high volume daily work of refractive and cataract surgery. Method: my preoperative refraction was as follows OD +1.25/ -0.50 X 100 → 20/20 OS +1.25/ -0.50 X 80 → 20/20 Corneal topography shows both of my eyes were compatible with hyperopic Lasik. Attempted correction was full correction on the dominant eye with over correction (+2.50 D) on the left eye. Results: right eye was 20/20 for distance without correction, left eye was -1.50/ -0.50 X 150 (on 1/6/2005). Corneal topography demonstrates flatter right cornea and steeper left cornea. Since then till now I have not used a single reading glasses for my close work and daily refractive, Phaco, cataract surgery. Conclusion: monocular hyperopic is a valuable option for presbyopic patients considering refractive surgery.
