Abstract :

Hepatitis C virus (HCV) is the etiological agent of life threating liver infection, leading to millions of death worldwide. Globally approximately 200 million individuals have been infected from HCV which constitute about 3.3% of the world population. The current study aimed to investigate the incidence of HCV infection in general population of district Swat, and to find the associated risk factors. The study was approved from the authorities and a written consent was signed from each participant of the study. A total 500 blood samples (n=500) were collected randomly from the general population of Swat region during November 2015 to June 2016. The blood samples were screened through immuno chromatographic strip for serological analysis of HCV antibodies. The overall incidence of HCV was 11.4% in the studied population. The incidence of HCV was higher in males (79%) than females (21%). We also found that the rate of infection was high in age group of less than 40 which was 77.6% and least in the age group >40 years of age which was 22.4% (P value <0.05,Odds ratio (OR)=1.9). Furthermore the sero incidence of hepatitis was also reported which was varying with time. The rate of incidence was different in each month. In November the incidence rate of HCV was 31.4%, in December 7.8%, January 12.6%, February 7%, March 10.1%, April 14.9%, May 9.2 and in June 5.1%. Our findings concluded the high incidence rate of HCV infection in Swat region. The study recommends more studies on such aspects in other areas and other viral diseases for their prevention.

Biography :

I am Zafran Khan. I have completed BS (Hons) Microbiology from CBM (Centre for biotechnology and Microbiology) University of Swat, Pakistan. I am the member of national Academy of young Scientist Pakistan, we the Microbiologist and the Biotechnologist Pakistan which shows my Active participation in the field of biological Sciences. I have also participated in different workshops and seminars related to science fields. I have got a deep insight into microbiology, bacteriology, immunology, virology, experimental statistics, biochemistry, microbial genetics, genetic engineering and epidemiological concepts. I also want to work with scientific community and researchers to explore the hidden ideas of nature related to sciences. Furthermore I am also very much interested to attend conference and seminars on international level where I would create new ideas and discuss it with scientific communities to make it beneficial to human beings in near future. All these things shows my interest in field of biomedical sciences. Scientific research is continuous process of learning and exploring of ideas. Personally I will learn more and more in scientific community, team work and will thoroughly present the statistical aspects of my research work. At the end I wish that my abstract may kindly be considered for poster presentation this conference.
