Abstract :

Purpose: We report a series of scleral melting after pterygium surgery with their management. Materials & Method: 20 eyes with post pterygium surgery scleral melting were subjected to sclerocorneal patch graft. Results: Pre operatively scleral melt and epithelial defect were seen in all and infection in two. Recurrence of melting/on leading to severe graft necrosis in three, two managed successfully and one eye was lost. Conclusion: This case series, the largest in world literature, revealed corneoscleral patch graft is a suitable approach to preserve globe integrity in severe scleral melting after pterygium surgery. abhiyankumar@gmail.com
