Paediatric ophthalmology is the branch of medical science which deals with vision development and care in children. Pediatric vision care needs are highly specific and need to be attended with special care and attention. Paediatric ophthalmologists handle the eye diseases in children of various ages with specialized care and attention. Major paediatric eye diseases involve strabismus, amblyopia, paediatric glaucoma etc.
Paediatric ophthalmology includes an extensive range of pediatric eye problems such as congenital corneal opacities, cataract, pediatric glaucoma etc. Another common disease found in children are amblyopia or lazy eyes, squint, double vision and other disorders of eye alignment.
