Research Interest

1. Since the late 1990ies research efforts in our laboratory have been focused on the understanding of the functions of the Collagen Triple Helix Repeat Containing-1 (Cthrc1), a molecule discovered in our laboratory in 1999 in the adventitia of injured arteries. We recently found that Cthrc1 is a novel hormone with expression in the hypothalamus, the pituitary gland and in bone under homeostatic conditions. Cthrc1 null mice have increased levels of glycogen in skeletal muscle and liver, and these mutants develop steatosis. Our long term goals are to understand the functions of Cthrc1 in health and disease and explore whether abnormal Cthrc1 levels are linked to alter physiology or pathology.
2. Additionally expertise in mouse models of vascular injury and remodeling
