Dr. Shi is an Associate Professor of Pharmacology and Toxicology at School of Pharmacy, University of Kansas. He is also an Associate Professor of Neurosciences of the Neuroscience Program at University of Kansas. Dr. Shi received a Ph.D. in Biophysics with a specialization in oxidative stress researchand hasdedicated his career to understanding the involvement of oxidative stress and mitochondrial dysfunction in pathologicalconditions in the brain including stroke, diabetic encephalopathy, and heavy metal toxicity. He is a member of Society for Free Radical Research International, Society for Free Radical Biology and Medicine, International Society for Cerebral Blood Flow & Metabolism, American Heart/Stroke Association, American Society of Neurochemistry, etc.
Mechanisms of cellular injury in ischemic stroke, diabetic encephalopathy, and heavy metal toxicity and drug discovery in these pathological conditions.
