Biography

Dr Guo-Liang (Leon) Lu is a senior research fellow of Auckland Cancer Society Research Centre (ACSRC), Faculty of Medical and Health Sciences, The University of Auckland, New Zealand. He obtained his PhD degree in 1998 in organic chemistry from Nankai University under the supervision of Professor Li-Cheng Song. He worked as an associate professor in Hebei Normal University, China and visiting scholar in Hong Kong Baptist University before took a postdoctoral position in 2001 with Professor Warren Roper FRS and Professor James Wright of the School of Chemical Sciences at the University of Auckland. He was appointed as a research fellow of ACSRC in 2004 and currently his research interest is the development of anticancer drugs including antibody drug conjugate (ADC), hypoxia activated prodrug (HAP) and metal-based drug (MBD). Dr Lu is the co-author of 69 peer-reviewed journal papers, 46 conference presentations and co-inventor of 5 patents.

Medicinal chemistry; Organic and organometallic syntheses; development of anticancer drugs including antibody drug conjugate (ADC), hypoxia activated prodrug (HAP) and metal-based drug (MBD).
