Dr. Yongming Sang is Assistant Professor in Department of Immunophysiology, Kansas State University, USA. Hir research interests include elucidating, molecularly and functionally, animal innate immune genes, in particular those that have antimicrobial activities and therapeutic potential. We are using combined approaches of bioinformatics, genetics and molecular biology to elucidate genes or gene families that are potentially important in animal innate immunity. We have focused on functional genomic studies using animal models of pigs and rats in the following two directions: (1) porcine antiviral innate immunity against porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome virus (PRRSV); (2) innate immune responses in obesity induced by high-fat diet or/and viral infection in rats.
