Biography

Anabela Cordeiro-da-Silva, MsC, PhD, is an expert in animal testing. She is an associate professor at the Faculty of Pharmacy and the head of the Parasite Disease Group at the Institute for Molecular and Cell Biology (IBMC) from the University of Porto. She has over 20 years’ experience working with trypanosomatid parasites and has published more than 90 papers. Since establishing her group in the Faculty of Pharmacy (1997) she has gained a standing within the field of drug discovery against protozoan neglected diseases. After moving to the IBMC (2005) and establishing a Cat 2/3 facility she has consolidated and expanded her studies to host-parasite interactions, drug delivery systems and drug interactions with host immune system.
