Biography

 Prof. A. H. ( Aart ) Schene has been appointed as Professor of Psychiatry at the Radboud University Nijmegen on 1 January 2014. Aart Schene ((Zuid-Scharwoude,1956), studied Biology, Medicine and Medical Anthropology at the University of Amsterdam. He specialized in the field of Psychiatry at the University Hospital Utrecht (1986-1990). In 1992 he obtained his PhD at the University of Utrecht in a randomized comparative study on psychiatric day treatment and 24 - hour treatment. From 1992 to 2014 Prof. Schene was affiliated with the University of Amsterdam, initially as a psychiatrist and director of a research sub-program / ​​principal investigator. In 1994 he was appointed Professor of Psychiatry at the University of Amsterdam and became also Head of the Program for Mood Disorders in the Department of Psychiatry, Academic Medical Center, University of Amsterdam.
