He received his Ph.D. in Plasma Science from IIT Delhi after his distinguished First Position in Master's degree in Science (Electronics) from Meerut University. He was a Post-doctoral research Fellow at Queensland University Brisbane, (Australia) during 1980-81. He has made significant contributions in these fields as evident by his above 300 research publications in Journals of repute at national and international levels He is a pioneer researcher on Exergy Analysis and Finite time thermodynamics of Energy Systems at National & International level and a leading expert on Alternative Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Technologies. He has guided 40 Ph.D. Theses and 60 M.Tech Projects. Dr. Kaushik has authored five books of the first kind on “Solar Refrigeration & space-conditioning (1989)”, “Thermal Control in Passive Solar Buildings” (1989), “Greenhouse Science & Technology” (2006), “Alternative Energy Resources” (2010) and “Energy and Environment Laboratory Experiments” (2011). He has also edited two volumes of Book on “Advances in contemporary Physics & Energy” and Forwarded two books on Energy Conservation and Energy Savings in Industries. His specific contributions on Energy Systems have been recognized by national and international awards to his credit viz. Young Scientist UNESCO Award (1986), Hariom Prerit S.S. Bhatnagar Award (1988), and Divyajyoti Science and Technology Award (1990). He has been a member of ISES (Australia) & IIR (France) and Life member of various other professional societies viz SESI, PSSI, ISTE, ISHRAE and ISME etc. He has been National Project Director and Coordinator of MNRE Sponsored Renewable Energy Fellowship Programme (2005-2010) and Head, Hindi Management Cell at IIT Delhi for 2005 – 2009. He is on Editorial Board of Applied thermal Engineering Published by Elesvier Press (U.K.) and Expert Reviewer in many other National / International Journals of repute.
