Richard Bishop is a Principal Molecular Biologist who leads multiple research programs in the ILRI Biotechnology Theme. He has a first degree in Zoology and a PhD in Molecular Biology from the University of Glasgow, where his thesis topic was to investigate the molecular mechanism of transposition in bacteria. He subsequently worked on the molecular karyotype of the human pathogenLeishmania donovani at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine
