Biography
 Mykola Makarchuk is Head of Department of Human Physiology and Animal in the Kyiv Taras Shevchenko University, Ukraine. He teaches to students of biology and psychology colleges, including the course of 'Animal Psychology'. For over twenty years he has been investigating the role of emotions in the behavior of animals.Recently his scientific interest focused on the study of neurophysiological mechanisms of the development of anxiety and depression, both in animals and in humans, and the smell of role in these processes. He is studying the possibility of optimizing the functional condition of human beings through the aromatherapy methods. He conducts an active work with talented high school students of biology and is head of the jury of the Collegiate Olympics Ukrainian Biology, whose winners participated in the XII International Biology Olympiad in 2001.
