My research can be organized into two broad themes: The first theme is focused on understanding the psychological experience of social class. The second centers on exploring the social functions of emotion in facilitating group interactions. I study these broad areas of research using a variety of methods that range from controlled laboratory experiments, to psychophysiological assessments, to ethological observations.
I am currently an Assistant Professor of Social-Personality Psychology at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign. I received my graduate training at UC Berkeley under the supervision of Serena Chen and Dacher Keltner. I received post-doctoral training at UC San Francisco under the supervision of Wendy Mendes and Nancy Adler.
