Dr. Martin Scherrer completed his MSc and PhD degrees in clinical psychology at the University of Calgary and his predoctoral internship with the Calgary Consortium. Dr. Scherrer previously worked with the Early Psychosis Treatment Service at Foothills Hospital in Calgary AB, prior to accepting a position in 2009 with Tertiary Mental Health in Kamloops BC, where he provides comprehensive psychodiagnostic assessments and CBT for a range of clinical presentations, including mood, anxiety, and psychotic disorders. His research and clinical interests are reflected in multiple publications and conference presentations related to the theory and practice of CBT. Dr. Scherrer frequently consults within a multidisciplinary treatment team, promoting an understanding of clinical presentations through a cognitive behavioral case conceptualization, as well as educating other professionals about CBT through clinical consultation and more formal presentations. In addition, Dr. Scherrer is a Clinical Instructor with the Department of Psychiatry, University of British Columbia, and regularly introduces medical students to the empirical foundation, theoretical model, and clinical practice of CBT. Dr. Scherrer is a Founding Member of CACBT-ACTCC and is CACBT-ACTCC Certified in Cognitive Behaviour Therapy.
