Biography

Dr. Marc Matrana focuses on treating patients with cancers of the genitourinary tract, lung cancer, gastrointestinal cancer and other malignancies and hematologic diseases. Dr. Matrana has conducted ground-breaking research and written articles, chapters and other publications in the field of genitourinary medical oncology. Dr. Matrana is also an active medical educator, serving in leadership positions with local medical schools including the University of Queensland School of Medicine/Ochsner Clinical School, the Ochsner Internal Medicine Residency Program and Ochsner Medical Oncology Fellowship Program. Dr. Matrana is a ninth generation New Orleans who received his bachelor and master's degrees from Tulane University and his medical degree from the Louisiana State University School of Medicine at New Orleans. He completed his internship and residency in internal medicine at Ochsner Medical Center, where he served as Chief Medical Resident. He completed training in hematology and medical oncology at M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas, where he served as Chief Fellow for Resident Education and as overall Chief Fellow.
