Biography
Mana Ali is a PhD student in Clinical Psychology at Howard University. She is a clinical psychology intern at VA Maryland Health Care System/University of Maryland School of Medicine Psychology Internship Consortium. Her research has largely focused on the associations among psychosocial variables and health risk factors in persons of African descent and has included collaborations with National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases and Howard University Hospital. Based on this research, she has received awards such as a Poster Citation from American Psychosomatic Society, Merit Poster Award from International Society of Hypertension in Blacks, and Second Place Panel Winner at Leslie Hicks Psychology Symposium. Throughout her graduate school career, she has authored/co-authored 6 published research articles and 16 research posters, and has made several community and research oral presentations. She is a member of American Psychological Association (APA), Society of Behavioral Medicine, and American Psychosomatic Society. She is also a member of APA’s Presidential Task Force on Patient-Centered Medical Homes.
