Dr. Jan Lestak is Medical Faculty of Charles University since from 2012. He received his degree in ophthalmology the eye department of the Central Military Hospital in Prague in 1992. Dr Jan Lestak PhD thesis entitled "Contribution to the methodology for testing the electrical changes in the retina," defended in 1991. Until 1995 he worked as deputy head of the Ophthalmology Department of the Central Military Hospital .He/she was a post-doctoral fellow at the Salk Institute from 1987-1989 in Molecular Biology and Virology. He is a member of the Czech Ophthalmological Society, a member of the Czech Glaucoma Society
