Humberto Corrêa da Silva Filho

Biography

He holds a medical degree from the Federal University of Minas Gerais (1991), a Medical Residency in Psychiatry at the UFMG Hospital das Clínicas (1995), a Master's degree in Pharmacology and Pharmacochimie - Louis Pasteur-France University (1998), PhD in Biological Sciences: Physiology and Pharmacology- by the Federal University of Minas Gerais (2001), Post-Doctorate in Molecular Genetics by UFMG (2002) and Post-doctorate by Université Paris-Decartes-Hopital Sainte Anne in Paris (2010). He is a Professor of Psychiatry at the Faculty of Medicine of UFMG, a permanent member and master's and doctoral advisor in the postgraduate program in Molecular Medicine and in Neuroscience, of which he was one of the creators, and participated in his commission of implantation. He supervised or co-oriented 25 master's students and 11 doctoral students. He was president of the World Network of Suicidologists (2008-2010). President of the Latin American Association of Suicidology (2016-2018) and President of ABEPS (Brazilian Association for the Study and Prevention of Suicide). He is currently Vice-President of the Mining Association of Psychiatry and Member of the Scientific Committee of the National Institute of Science and Technology (INCT) in Molecular Medicine. He has experience in the areas of psychiatry, neuropharmacology and molecular genetics, working mainly on the following topics: serotonergic function, suicidal behavior, molecular genetics of neuropsychiatric disorders and behavior.
