Frank R. Jones

Biography

Frank Jones joined the Department from the University of Surrey in 1985 where he had been a lecturer since 1975, and quickly established a composites research laboratory and surface analysis laboratory. In 2005, he received the Plueddemann Award for excellence in research into Interfaces in Composite Materials and the Holliday Prize of Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining (IOMMM). In 2007, he was elected by the International Committee on Composite Materials (ICCM) as Scala Award winner and World Fellow of ICCM. He is a Freeman of the Company of Cutlers. He authored the encyclopaedic text: Handbook of Polymer-fibre composites (Longman 1994).
