Biography

Dr Simon Fishel is Managing Director of the CARE Fertility Group. He is recognised for his pioneering work in IVF (link to ‘CARE Firsts’ on CARE Fertility website), especially in the fields of microinjection for male infertility and preservation of fertility in children with cancer and in developing chromosome screening in IVF using array CGH technology. He has been active in the field for over 30 years, researching at Cambridge with Professor Robert Edwards before the birth of the first IVF baby. He was part of the ‘original team of four’, with Patrick Steptoe, Bob Edwards and John Webster at the world first IVF clinic established in 1980. He has written over 200 scientific articles and edited three books on the subject.
