Dr. Elkin Lucena is one of the most prominent scientists of Colombia and Latin America. Surgeon, Javeriana University, specialist in Gynecology and Human Reproduction.With a distinguished career of over 40 years as a practicing physician, researcher and academic, Dr. Lucena serves as Scientific Director and Founder of the Colombian Center for Fertility and Sterility - CECOLFES, and Scientific Director and Advisory multiple Assisted Reproduction Centers Central and Latin America.As a researcher and pioneer, Dr. Lucena was responsible in 1985 for the first test tube baby born alive in Latin America. Subsequently in 1995, he won the first live birth of a world free male baby Hemophilia A, additionally, in 2005, he produced the first pregnancy and live birth of oocytes vitrified in Colombia and Latin America. Moreover, his research team developed and established the first Latin American Cell Line from Human Embryonic Stem Cell registered under the name of CECOL-14, also in 2005.
