Biography
Prof. E.Marani studied biology and was appointed staff member of the Dep. of Anatomy in Leiden in 1970. He teached anatomy and neuroanatomy and graduated on the thesis "Enzyme histochemistry of the mammalian cerebellum: acetylcholinesterase and 5'-nucleotidase" in 1982 at the Leiden University. In 1985 he became head of the Neuroregulation group at the Dept. of Physiology at the same University. In 1992 a start was made with culturing cortical, hypothalamic, DRG neurons and glial cells. He was visiting professor at the Heinrich Heine University Dusseldorf (1991-1992) and professor of Anatomy (Sofia) and Neurophysiology (Stara Zagora) from 1995-1998.
