Biography
Most of his research output (published as about 320 books, reviews and research papers) has been concerned with the ecophysiology of oceanic, coastal and estuarine organisms, and have been particularly interested in the behavioural and physiological responses of animals to fluctuating and extreme environmental conditions. These interests developed during the first 20 years of my career at the School ofOceaStudies,UniversityofBangor(1970-1991). he also initiated strong threads of biomechanical research and a long-standing interest in the functional morphology of sea turtles at this time.
