Biography

Cheryl Zauderer, Ph.D., C.N.M., N.P.P., has more than 25 years of nursing experience with a specialization in obstetrics and midwifery.

At NYIT, Zauderer educates students on how to guide new mothers in breastfeeding and post-delivery care of self and their newborn child. She prepares them to assess and evaluate the laboring patient, interpret fetal heart rate tracings, and perform newborn assessments. She also oversees clinical placements in a variety of settings for all undergraduate nursing courses.

Zauderer currently works as a nurse practitioner at a private practice providing intensive psychotherapy and medication management to women with perinatal mood disorders and other women's health issues.

She is a member of the Huntington Hospital Nursing Education Council, volunteers at the Postpartum Resource Center, and is the Nassau/Suffolk coordinator for Postpartum Support International. She is also a reviewer for Nursing for Women's Health journal.

Zauderer received her Ph.D. in general psychology from Capella University; her post master's degree in psychiatric nursing from Molloy College; master's degree in nursing from Stony Brook University; and bachelor's degree in nursing from Adelphi University.
