Bourazza Ahmed
Morocco
Dr. Ahmed Bourazza is a distinguished neurologist at the Mohammed V Military Teaching Hospital in Rabat, Morocco, and serves as a faculty member at Mohammed V University. His clinical expertise encompasses a broad spectrum of neurological disorders, with a particular focus on neuropsychiatric manifestations of systemic diseases and rare neurological syndromes. In 2024, Dr. Bourazza co-authored a compelling case report titled "Psychiatric Presentation of a Severe Vitamin B12 Deficiency Associated with Biermer’s Disease," published in the International Journal of Medical and Pharmaceutical Case Reports. This study detailed the case of a 57-year-old female patient who exhibited psychiatric symptoms, including depressive mood, social withdrawal, and apathy, which were later attributed to severe vitamin B12 deficiency due to Biermer's disease. The report underscored the critical importance of considering nutritional deficiencies in the differential diagnosis of neuropsychiatric conditions to ensure timely and effective treatment. In the same year, Dr. Bourazza contributed to another insightful case report, "Delusional Parasitosis (Ekbom Syndrome): A Case Report," featured in the World Journal of Advanced Research and Reviews. This publication presented two cases of Ekbom syndrome, a rare psychotic disorder characterized by the delusion of parasitic infestation. The study highlighted the necessity for collaboration between dermatologists and psychiatrists in managing such complex cases and emphasized the importance of awareness among neurologists, especially when delusional parasitosis follows neurological events like stroke. Dr. Bourazza's dedication to advancing neurological science is further exemplified by his research on multiple sclerosis (MS). He co-authored the study "Natalizumab for Moroccan Patients with Highly Active Multiple Sclerosis," which evaluated the efficacy and safety of natalizumab in treating MS patients over a decade. The findings provided valuable insights into the management of MS within the Moroccan healthcare context.
