Biography
Dr. Kambugu was the pioneer fellow in Infectious Diseases at the IDI in the College of Health Sciences at Makerere University. He heads the research department, which serves over 15,500 Ugandans living with HIV/AIDS, including 8,600 on antiretroviral therapy. He also holds an adjunct assistant professor position at the University of Minnesota, Minneapolis. Dr. Kambugu is a well-published researcher, with several peer reviewed publications in medical journals. He has supervised four postgraduate students. He serves on two national health committees and has delivered five invited guest lectures at international scientific meetings. He received his medical training in internal medicine at Makerere University in Kampala, Uganda. He received additional training at the University of Utah and University of Manitoba as part of his fellowship training in Infectious Diseases.
