Biography

Dr. André Marchand is a Professor at the University of Quebec Department of Psychology at Montreal (UQAM) and co-director of the Center for the Study of Trauma Mental Health University Institute in Montreal (IUSMM). His research interests include the assessment and cognitive and behavioral treatment of anxiety disorders, particularly panic disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder and generalized anxiety disorder.

Research Interest

 Dr. André Marchand is interested in the assessment and cognitive and behavioral treatment of anxiety disorders, particularly panic disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder and generalized anxiety disorder. He is also interested in co-occurrence of anxiety disorders. It attempts to develop specific evaluation tools and to find the most efficient intervention methods for treating individuals struggling with an anxiety disorder. It seeks to evaluate the therapeutic effects in the short, medium and long term, of different intervention strategies and to better understand the factors and mechanisms producing these effects. It also aims to identify the processes underlying the therapeutic change (the therapeutic alliance, the specific intervention, expectations, etc.). It assesses the costs related to therapeutic interventions and profits for the client or customer. It attempts to apply new technologies to the treatment of anxiety disorders (virtual reality, telepsychotherapy, etc.). He is the author of several articles, book chapters and books on anxiety disorders including the state of post-traumatic stress. In addition, it performs numerous conferences, workshops and participates in radio and television shows.
