Biography

Dr. Chow has spent almost 30 years in research. Dr. Chow obtained his PhD in Biochemistry in 1981 from McGill University. From 1981 to 1986, Dr. Chow held a position as a Visiting Fellow and later as a Visiting Associate at the National Institute of Health in Washington (U.S.). From 1986 to 1989, Dr. Chow was a Research Officer at the Biotechnology Research Institute, a unit of the National Research Council of Canada, located in Montreal. From 1989 to 1993, he was Assistant Professor at the University of Sherbrooke. Dr. Chow returned to McGill University in 1993 where he was an Associate and then Adjunct Professor, following which he joined Oncozyme in 2008. Dr. Chow has been awarded research grants from the Cancer Research Society, the National Cancer Institute of Canada, the Canadian Institute of Health Research and Le Fonds de recherche du Québec – Santé. Dr. Chow has also received an NIH Visiting Fellowship, NIH Visiting Associateship, AHFMR Fellowship, NSERC-Visiting Fellowship, a research grant from the FRQS, McGill University Health Centre (MUHC) Fast Foundation Bursary, and the Research Support Award from the MUHC Research Institute.

Research Interest

Dr. Chow research is on the fundamental aspect of cancer biology and genetics that contributing to the development and propagation of cancer. In particular, to determine how the various DNA repair processes interacts with the signal transduction pathway and to identify potential target for anti-cancer drug development.
