My name is Aisan Khaligh. I have completed my B.Sc. in Applied Chemistry from Azad University of Tabriz, Iran in 2006, and started M.Sc. program right after at the University of Tabriz. I accomplished my research in engineering polymers in the Polymer Science & Technology Lab with one Iran patent and one international Seminar. My M.Sc. thesis was about “optimization of synthesis and curing conditions of unsaturated polyester resin and preparation of its composite with polyurethane”. I started PhD course in Applied Chemistry at Semnan University, Iran in 2012. My research interests are based on synthesis of graphene-based materials, activated carbons from natural sources, and mesoporous silica nanoparticles. The prepared materials were used as adsorbents in the removal of heavy metal ions and dyes from aqueous solutions as well as preconcentration and determination of heavy metal ions in water and biological samples.
I have a strong background in synthesis of activated carbon and graphene-based materials using both chemical and CVD methods and I am familiar with various characterization methods such as FTIR, XRD, SEM, TEM, TGA, EDX, BET, Raman, and so on.
Specialties and expertise: Graphene-based materials, Graphene oxide, N-doped graphene, Activated carbon, Mesoporous silica nanoparticles, Polymer synthesis and application, Environmental remediation, Solid phase extraction methods, Determination of heavy metal ions, Water pollution, Removal of organic and inorganic pollutants from water.
