The goal of any aesthetic breast operations is to fullfill the patient´s desire. The most often heard wish of a female patient before a breast reduction, whether a breast lifts or a breast reduction could be performed without a vertical scar. Unhappily the mostly given answer to this question by plastic surgeons in Germany, that there is only Benneli `s Method - a pure skin tightening around the nipple - without a vertical scar, causing often heavy scars and flat breast mouth and even flat and wide breast without any aesthetic nice projection. Therefore the most performed breast lift in Germany is the breast lift with a vertical scar according to LeJour. The author presents here his developing works, to create new method of the breast lift without a vertical scar. In the early stage of his works before the last five years he made a modified LeJour breast lift with subglandular lift with or without an implant. The subglandular breast lift - a modified Lejour lift - was the first good attempt, which brought the breasts in the right 3 dimensional symmetrical position without a vertical scar, however only with the help of an implant. Later - for about two years - was the subcutan-epiglandular breast lift developed, with very good initial results, however without long lasting good results: the breast mouth has flattened after a while, so that the patients needed a second lift or an implant additional. The author has developed at last the use of mesh for the additional stabilization of the good breast projection, which was achieved by his new breast lift procedure without vertical scar. The new Haffner lift means the reposition, the augmentation, the lifting and the stabilization of the breast in the right position and right projection at the same time. The light peri areolar skin tightening is also performed, but the real stabilization occurs by means of light weight titanium-coated polypropylenemesh, which is implanted subcutan-epiglandular. The success of the new method is that, that a vertical scar is no more necessary by the need of a breast lift. No woman needs to be satisfied with disfiguring vertical scars in case of a breast lift any more. All kind of breasts, small or largely, could and should be tightened in the future without unpleasant vertical scars. The only exception to this sensational world novelty would be a contraindication or aversion against titanium-coated polypropylene mesh. We haven´t seen up to now, however, any side effects of this special mesh, this is why we can recommend the new scar-saving breast lift method without restriction.
Thomas Haffner completed his medicine study and his Doctorate in Budapest, Hungary in 1979 and became a specialized general surgeon in 1983. Since 2000 he opened his own outpatient private clinic for aesthetic-plastic surgery in Cologne, Germany. He has specialized in the cosmetic surgery of the face and the breast and of the intimate surgery. He owns the Hungarian and German specialist�??s recognition of the surgery and the second specialist�??s rank in the area of the vascular surgery. He passed the European examination for cosmetic surgery and is a board certified cosmetic surgeon of the International Board of Cosmetic Surgery in Cambridge, UK.
