Spontaneous pneumopericardium in a patient of lymphangioleiomyomatosis (LAM) and pulmonary tuberculosis- Rare case report

Abstract :

Pneumopericardium is an uncommon entity, which is usually reported as a complication of trauma. Presenting a rare case of Lymphangioleiomyomatosis (LAM) coexisting with sputum positive miliary tuberculosis presenting with Pneumopericardium and utility of thoracoscopic drainage of pneumopericardium under local Anesthesia. LAM is a rare lung disease of unknown etiology, exclusively affecting women of reproductive age group and is characterized by proliferation and infiltration of pulmonary Interstitium with atypical smooth muscle cell. However pulmonary tuberculosis is known to cause Pneumopericardium but coexistence of LAM with pulmonary tuberculosis is a rare presentation.

Biography :

Klein Dantis has completed his MBBS and MS- General Surgery from Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Bangalore. He is currently pursuing superspeciality in Thoracic Surgery at National Institute of Tuberculosis and Respiratory Diseases, New Delhi, India. He has presented papers and posters in various national conferences.
