Abstract :

An Ideal occlusion is one that allows the realization of all physiological functions, adequate muscle performance, and proper to the stomatognathic system and preserves the health of its constituent structures. Severe dental damages can occur at various levels and produce anatomical changes that lead to loss or alteration of the patients' VAD, interfering with the patient’s masticatory efficiency as well as aesthetics. This presentation reports a 31-year-old female case, who presented complaints about the appearance of the teeth, asymmetry of the face and difficulty in chewing. During anamnesis, the patient reported that she gnashed her teeth in her sleep (bruxism), and also related muscular pain, in the face and TMJ. In a intraoral exam, it was noticed severe tooth wear, performing a diagnostic suggestion of acid erosion. From the literary review and the case study carried out, it is noted that there is no method or some methods that may be the most suitable to achieve the aesthetic perfection of the patient and his comfort, but rather the use of several methods. All of them have their limitations and can be used associated to decrease the possibility of errors. To this case in particular, the chosen alternative to rehabilitate the patient and avoid even greater dental damage , was an oral rehabilitation using composite laminates, with none wear of the teeth structure, table tops on the posterior teeth for upper and lower arch . It can be concluded that the application of minimally invasive composites veneers offer satisfactory results regarding the restoration of the occlusal vertical dimension, restoration of chewing efficiency and facial aesthetics, as well as a reversible, noninvasive work.
