Justice is a matter of universal importance that extends beyond judicial systems. Aspects of justice have been of concern to clinical, forensic and social psychologists in their practice, but rarely to academic psychologsts and researchers. It is time the situation is remedied, and the topic is given the attention it deserves. This paper suggests how this might be done. Justice is a pre-eminent matter of significance for all people, no matter their stage of the life-cycle, their social circumstances, or their national affiliation. Its importance should be reflected in a leading theory of human behaviour. Following Maslow, it could be incorporated among safety needs, with linkage to those of belonging, and imposing obligations on the self-actualized.
