Abstract :

Cosmetic sclerotherapy is commonly known as the most diffused treatment for lower limbs thread veins, their treatment of choice. People are now asking for something different: Not just leg thread vein treatments, but also veins located in other areas, such as hands, arms, feet and face. The purpose of this presentation is to share my working procedures and methods, widening areas of aesthetic concerns which can be treated in a cosmetic and vein clinic. No more only microsclerotherapy of thigh and lower leg thread veins, but a series of effective procedures to address almost all superficial veins of the body, even if only for aesthetic requests. It is true to say that Aesthetic Medicine, offering treatments such as dermal fillers injection, botulinum toxin, re-absorbable threads, chemical peels and laser treatments can often provide nearly immediate satisfactory results, whereas patients undergoing cosmetic phlebology treatments will need longer time, in terms of weeks or months, to get to satisfactory results. Moreover, patients rarely tend to express high level of satisfaction: they would like to get ever higher and longer lasting results from the treatments and up to 20% of them say they did not reach their full expectations. A successful cosmetic vein clinic should be equipped with all the appropriate and up-to-date devices to provide firstly a thorough assessment of the patient, offering then the widest and effective range of treatment options. The author will present his experience in this field, providing technical advice and videos. serpieri@flebologia.it
