Abstract :

Introduction: Coronary artery by-pass graft surgery is the most common cardiac surgery performing widely round the world and recent evidence has demonstrated that post-operative tendency to formation of clod is very high. This study is designed to evaluate the effect of Aspirin and Clopidogrel on early outcome of patient undergoing OPCABGS.

Material & Methods: During this clinical trial study that was done on 281 patients (n=155 Clopidogrel regime, n=126 Aspirin regime) undergoing OPCABGS from Jan 2010 to July 2011. Mean age was 61.81±10.84 years. Background variables were analyzed by early outcome of patients using chi-square in SPSS software.

Finding: According to our data there was no significant relation between post operation DVT and post operation CVA, bleeding, mortality rate with antiplatelet regime (p>0.05).

Conclusion: Although Clopidogrel is a more expensive and newer drug but it seems that its effects on post of operation outcome does not differ from Aspirin so that according to this study Clopidogrel cannot be considered as qualified replacement instead of Aspirin rather combination antiplatelet therapy is also controversial.
