Abstract :

Skin aging depends from a complex combination of endogenous or intrinsic (genetics, pathologic conditions, cellular, hormonal and metabolic impairments) and extrinsic (chronic light exposure, pollution, ionizing radiation, chemicals, and toxins) factors. These factors induce a cumulative structural and physiological alterations in each skin layer as well as changes in global skin appearance and tonicity, especially, on the sun-exposed skin areas thus to configurate a composite condition known as chrono-photo-aging. Chrono-photo-aged skin typically shows a thickened epidermis, local dischromies, deep wrinkles, laxity, roughness as well as dullness. Available treatment includes bleaching and antioxidants creams, topical retinoid acid, chemical peels, laser therapy, radiofrequency, autologous fat transplantation, injectable fillers with or without bio-revitalizing properties, botulinum toxin and surgery. It is mandatory to evaluate each situation thus to ?personalize? the solution possibly combining two or more tools among those available. Aim of the present paper is to evaluate the efficacy of a staged combination of pyruvic acid 70% and a temporary filler (nonanimal stabilized crosslinked HA from bacterial fermentation) on improving skin texture, tonicity and trophism. Procedure, early and late aesthetic outcomes are presented.
