Abstract :

Infertility plagues couples throughout the world. Multiple miscarriages had discouraged a Gravida 4 Para 0 36 year old female who had tried to achieve a successful pregnancy. History: Four losses at 14.5 (patient age: 34, placental abruption), 6.5 (patient age: 35), 8.5 (patient age: 35, subchorionic bleed), and 6 (patient age: 36) weeks? gestation, respectively. History of knife-like pain present at beginning of each pregnancy. Treatment included use of progesterone suppositories and Lovenox injections, without success. Patient contacted Dr. Alan Beer , reproductive immunologist, in 2003, who suggested patient had Category 5 immune problems. Patient pursued treatment for identified progesterone allergy and used sublingual progesterone drops. Conception occurred within first two weeks of use of the drops. Delivered at 38 weeks, healthy female. Two years later, used sublingual progesterone drops. Achieved conception within two weeks. Low progesterone level necessitated use of supplemental progesterone, in addition to the drops. Delivered at 39 weeks, healthy female. Two years later, used sublingual progesterone drops. Achieved conception, and then early loss at four weeks (patient age: 40).
