Telecommunication is communication at a distance by technological means, particularly through electrical signals or electromagnetic waves. The Journal of Telecommunication Systems & Management aims to publish research content on latest challenges that the Industry of Telecommunications faces. Telecommunication is defined as a mode of communication through electrical signals or electromagnetic waves. Earlier pre-technological ways of communication were blowing horns, coded drum-beats and loud whistles. As technology progressed, the earliest forms of telecommunication were beacons, semaphore telegraphs, optical heliographs and signal flags. These were mere signs and indications from afar to send essential information and emergency messages. As the technological development progressed and newer ways of communication were invented, there were telegraphs, telephones, teleprinters and radio. These transmitted information to in a better and efficient way than their predecessors. As the demand for electrical components increased day-by-day, they started to be available at lower costs and readily available. This lead to availability of communication to a larger sector of society. The main advantage of these devices was their portability and ease of operation. The biggest breakthrough in telecommunications was the discovery of optical fibers. Optical fibers changed the history of telecommunications. Optical fibers are light-weight, and the fastest transmitters of information, reliable, durable, accurate and long-lasting. All these qualities gave optical fibers a wide application in the telecommunications industry.
