She has received a PhD in Food Science and Biotechnology in 2006 from Department of Agricultural Sciences, University of Modena and Reggio Emilia and completed her M.Sc in Industrial Biotechnology in University of Modena and Reggio Emilia, Italy (2002). She authored about 20 publications that include Research articles on yeast taxonomy, ecology and genetics.
Research interests include several aspects related to physiology, taxonomy, DNA barcoding, molecular biology, and molecular systematics of hemiascomycetes. In recent years, her research is focusing on the mosaic genome analysis of osmotolerant yeasts Zygosaccharomyces isolated from harsh food-related environments.
