Biography

Yi Huang is an Instructor in the Cancer Biology Division of the Department of Radiation Oncology. He completed his MS at LSU Health Science Center in 2016, studying statistical learning techniques in clinical trials. He is now a PhD student advised by Dr. Travis Loux at Saint Louis University, focusing on statistical learning and causal inference. Before becoming a faculty, he was senior statistician at Department of Radiation Oncology, where he developed an interest in clinical trials. As the leading statistician, he provides support of clinical trial design, retrospective clinical projects, non-clinical physics and other related projects, preclinical studies, and other translational studies. He also work closely with members of the Clinical, Physics, and Biology Divisions to provide critical support for developing and ongoing grants. Besides that, Yi participates in the training and mentoring of graduate students and postdoctoral researchers, teaching programs, journal clubs and related activities in the clinical, cancer biology and physics division.

Research Interest

Yi’s role in the Cancer Biology Division is to provide statistical support for the entire spectrum of ongoing and developing research projects in the Department of Radiation Oncology. His research area is causal inference and statistical learning, focusing on propensity score matching methods on clustered data.
