Biography

Wei Wang (MD, PhD) is an associate professor at Jiangsu Institute of Parasitic Diseases and the Key Laboratory on Technology for Parasitic Disease Prevention and Control, Ministry of Health, the People’s Republic of China. His research interests focus on but are not limited to neglected tropical diseases (NTDs), drug resistance, vector control and epidemiology. He has received many projects funded by the the Natural Science Foundation of Jiangsu Province and the Jiangsu Provincial Department of Health. Dr. Wei Wang has published over 100 scientific papers in peer-reviewed journals and book chapters. Currently, Dr. Wei Wang is an editor of Chinese Journal of Schistosomiasis Control, American Journal of Microbiology and Journal of Clinical Microbiology, and he is also an editorial board member of several peer-reviewed journals, including Asian Pacific Journal of Tropical Biomedicine, World Journal of Meta-analysis, Pathogen & Infectious Diseases, Clinical Research in Infectious Diseases, Journal of Tropical Medicine and Surgery, Pharmacologia, Journal of Pharmaceutics & Pharmacology, Journal of Infectious & Non-Infectious Diseases, Journal of Tropical Diseases and Public Health, International Journal of Tropical Diseases, y. In addition, he became an F1000 specialist since July, 2013. He has received many awards by the China Editology Society of Science Periodicals, Jiangsu Society of Scientific and Technical Periodicals and Jiangsu Periodicals Association due to his outstanding work as editors. Dr. Wang received his MD from Anhui Medical University and MSc from Nanjing Medical University. He completed a 6-month academic exchange in basic immunology at the Department of Microbiology & Immunology, the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston (UTMB).

Research Interest

Systematic assessment of praziquantel sensitivity in S. japonicum in China and monitoring of praziquantel resistance. Exploring the mechanisms underlying praziquantel resistance in S. japonicum using molecular and –omics tools. Screening novel anti-parasitic agents and molluscicides. Assessing the impact of water resource development on public health concern.
