Praveen Kumar Kathare, Ph.D
Post-doctoral Research, Plant Molecular Biology/Genetics
Texas State University, USA
Biography
Post-doctoral Research Fellow: September 2015- Till date
The Institute for Cellular and Molecular Biology, The University of Texas at Austin, Texas, USA
My present research is in the field of Plant molecular biology, with particular focus on unraveling
molecular mechanisms of light signaling in the model plant Arabidopsis. I use combinations of genetics,
biochemistry and molecular techniques to discover the unique functions of genes/proteins that affect the
growth and development of plants, in response to surrounding environment. In addition to research
activities, I am actively involved in training microbiological and molecular techniques to
undergraduates and graduate students. Moreover, I perform the duties of a lab manager, managing the
day-to-day lab activities.
