Matts Wikland

Biography

Prof. Matts Wikland became consultant in Obstetrics and Gynaecology 1980. In 1983 he did a Ph.D. in Obstetrics and Gynaecology. In 1984 he became Associate Professor in Obstetrics and Gynaecology at the University of Göteborg, Sweden. He started in the field of ART in 1978. His main clinical interest has focused on simplifying the clinical management in ART. In 1979 he began developing techniques for ultrasound guided oocyte pick up, and in 1984 he introduced vaginal ultrasound for monitoring ovarian stimulation and for guiding oocyte aspiration in IVF cycles. He has published 134 scientific papers in international journals, 30 chapters for medical books and more than 400 abstracts for national and international scientific meetings.
