Dr. Li Zhen-shan, PhD, Professor at College of Environmental Science and Engineering, Peking University, China. He has more than 20 years experience in environmental geographical sciences. He received his PhD in physical geography at Cold and Arid Regions Environmental and Engineering Research Institute, Academy of Chinese Sciences in 1997. He joined the faculty of Peking University in 2001 and was Head of the Department of Environmental Engineering at Peking University from 2007-2012. He has authored more than 30 publications in peer-reviewed international journals and over 100 papers in refereed journals in Chinese, supervised to completion 30 graduate students. He has been an investigator on 15 projects funded by China government and China National Natural Sciences Foundation Council.
His research interests include: (1) solid waste technology and management; (2) heavy-metal wastewater treatment; (3) low carbon technology for waste treatment; (4) arid environment.
