Biography Lahiru Jayakody earned his Ph. D. in Biosceince and Biotechnology from The United Graduate School of Agricultural Sciences, Kagoshima Japan in 2014. Dr. Jayakody graduated from faculty of Agriculture in University of Peradeniya, Sri Lanka in 2007, and holds two master degrees on Bioscience and Biotechnology (Saga University, Japan, 2011), and Agriculture and Biosystems engineering (University of Peradeniya, Sri Lanka, 2013). He is currently working as a postdoctoral research associate at Department of Food Science and Human Nutrition in University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, USA.
Research Interest My research is directed towards dissection of complex gene regulatory molecular mechanisms of yeast stress responses through systems biology approaches, specially targeted the Posttranslational protein modifications events (PTMs) such as SUMOylation and ubiquitination in stress resistance of yeast. Identification of such a complex stress responses of yeast aids for developing efficient yeast-based production systems, and also fuel the knowledge pool of understanding the onset and development of degenerative pathology and chronic diseases in humans.
