Biography

Dr. Chamcheu received his Ph.D. in 2010 in Dermatology and Venereology from the Faculty of Medicine at the Uppsala University, Sweden. Currently, he works as an Assistant Scientist (Equivalent of Research Assistant professor elsewhere) in Dermatology at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, School of Medicine and Public Health, USA. He was visiting fellow at the Center for Cutaneous Research (CCR), Queen Mary School of Medicine and Dentistry of the University of London (London, UK), and at Department of Molecular Biology, Faculty of Medicine, and the National Institute of Chemistry, at the University of Lybjana, (Lybjana, Slovania). He has over 10 years of experience working in skin biology and cutaneous disease research settings, developing tissue engineered human skin and animal models of human diseases. His current areas of work in cutaneous research include the Genetic and Molecular Basis of Skin Diseases, with special focus on translational preclinical models to explore and mitigate skin diseases, with emphasis in the discovery and development of fascinating novel small molecular weight agents for treatment and prevention of hereditary and acquired, inflammatory, hyperproliferative and carcinogenic skin diseases including genodermatoses, psoriasis, atopic dermatitis and cutaneous melanoma etc. He has published over 18 peer-reviewed scientific articles in dermatological and other scientific journals, and has co-authored 2 Book Chapters. His work has been presented at various national and international conferences and meetings, and he has regularly participated in international training courses. He is also a member of the following professional societies; the Society for Investigative Dermatology (SID), the European Society for Dermatological Research (ESDR), the American Chemical Society (ACS) and the Swedish Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (SSBMB). He is an editorial board member of Our Dermatology Online Journal (ODOJ) and ScienceRise, and serves as reviewer of over 11 peer-review scientific journals.

Dr. Chamcheu is interested in Genetics in cutaneous (skin, Hair and nail) disease research, Alopecia arreata and monilethrix, inflammation, psoriasis, atopic dermatitis, Drug discovery and development
