Biography

Dr. Honglin Luo is an Associate Professor in the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine/James, Hogg Research Center at the University of British Columbia, Canada. Dr Luo completed her MSc and MD training in China. She pursued her postdoctoral training at the University of Washington from 1997 to 2000. Dr Luo received a New Investigator Award from the Canadian Institutes of Health Research and a Scholar Award from the Michael Smith Foundation for Health Research. Dr Luo is at the leading edge in her field of enteroviral infection. The objective of Dr Luo research is to define the signaling mechanisms of viral infection, pathogenetic determinants of virus-host interactions and host and viral genetics in enterovirus induced heart disease aiming to find out new antiviral strategies. She has published over 60 refereed papers and 6 book chapters. Most of these publications have appeared in leading journals including Journal of Virology, Cell Death and Differentiation, Journal of Biological Chemistry, American Journal of Pathology and Circulation Research. Her research was supported by different grant agencies including the Canadian Institutes of Health Research, Heart Stroke Foundation of Canada, Canada Foundation for Innovation and the Hospital for Sick Kids Foundation.
