Dr. Farahnaz Movahedzadeh is Assistant Professor at Institute for Tuberculosis Research (ITR), College of Pharmacy at University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC). She earned her Ph.D. from the University College of London (UCL) and National Institute for Tuberculosis Research (NIMR) in England. Currently, she is a Biology Instructor at City College of Chicago and a Research Assistant Professor at UIC. She has published many reviewed papers, and she was author of 6 book chapters. She has teaching experience of more than 10 years. She served as the member of National Association of Biology Teachers (NABT), Association of College and University Biology Educators (ACUBE), Acid-Fast Club, UK and International union Against Tuberculosis and Lung Disease (IUATLD).She served as a reviewer of peer-reviewed journals, in the area of molecular and microbiology, and a grant reviewer of NIH. She organized the first hybrid conference on “Hybrid learning” at City College of Chicago in 2009. She received awards from different organizations including WHO and SENCER. She is also the recipient of grants from ALA, CBC and NSF.
Molecular genetics of Mycobacterium tuberculosis, essential genes, latency, virulence, gene regulation and expression, gluconeogenesis, and identification of novel drug targets.
