Dr. Edgardo Latrubesse is an Associate Professor at the University of Texas at Austin, Department of Geography and the Environment. He is a specialist on the Amazon but also develops research on large South American rivers and in the Mississippi River. Latrubesse is chair of the GLOCOPH working group on Large Rivers, leader of the working group Tropical Rivers Geomorphology of the International Association of Geomorphologists and leader of the IGCP 582 UNESCO project Tropical Rivers and was member of the Executive Committee of the International Association of Geomorphologists (2001-2005). Currently he is member of the Editorial board of Geomorphology, Paleoecology of Africa, Latin American Journal of Sedimentology and Basin Analysis among others, and has been guest editor of several special issues of international journals and books.
